Having a firearm in the home can be a significant risk factor for injury and death in children.

According to a report filed by the Washington State Department of Social Health Services, a child or teen is killed once every seven and a half hours with a gun, either by accident or by suicide. In each of the last ten years, an average of 1,323 kids committed suicide with a firearm.
